I am Vivian. I am passionate about painting, color matching, and watercolor painting, looking for tremendous energy in a drop of water to create colorful art. I enjoy exploring the beauty left through life and then taking a more in-depth peek after presenting it on my canvas - beautiful, profound, and intriguing moments, then eagerly awaiting for people to explore them. I am primarily motivated by impressionism, surrealism, and contemporary art. My favorite style is impressionism, and my favorite artist is Monet. What I see in his art is as if he puts a filter over what he paints, and through this filter, I can see the emotions he is trying to bring out in his work. He used color and shapes to bring his life to what he painted. After seeing his art, I changed from being someone who did not like art to someone who had not only an appreciation of art but who also wanted to create their work. It became a love affair. In my paintings, I prefer to use watercolor a lot. After that, I began to paint with pastels and have become highly skilled at using pastels. I have gradually started exploring how to use computers to paint, hoping to improve my painting skills further. However, painting with natural pigments is different from that with computers. For example, watercolor painting on canvas has a sense of grain and texture, and it is more challenging to grasp a pen's power than an actual pen. However, drawing through a computer can be corrected at any time if there is anything wrong. Therefore, I will use different methods to paint according to different needs. I love to find and record the world's beauty in my daily life, and I am also very good at using landscapes to express my mood. When I see beautiful things, I want to keep them in the way of drawing or the form of words. Recently, when I was preparing for the AP portfolio, I chose the theme of Landscape and Mood. I am a person with a strong ability of empathy, and good at observing and expressing the things or emotions around me. Therefore, in my painting, there are many different objects, such as the sea, trees, human figures, nature, cities, etc. These are all things I observe and express creatively in my paintings. In addition, there are a lot of purple elements, and a rose is present in my works because purple and rose are extraordinary things. It is rare to see natural purple except for purple flowers in nature. For roses, the rose is gorgeous, but it has thorns, and still, a lot of people like it; thus, it has its unique charm. One of my favorite quotes about roses is, "Instead of complaining that the rosebush is full of thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses." I have recently been practicing and trying different things, especially the technique of portrait painting. In the beginning, I painted portraits by tracing. After practicing proficiently, I could paint independently. However, this kind of portrait is challenging because of its numerous details. Therefore, I am constantly practicing and observing, hoping to master more painting skills and improve my painting level. I am a perfectionist, and I have learned many more skills over that period by drawing and exploring and have reached a state of Mental Flow. Besides, many people have recognized my paintings, but I will constantly reflect on them and try to make them more perfect. In general, painting teaches me a lot, and I also get a lot of happiness and satisfaction.
